Policy

The University of Montana Foundation Board of Trustees, through its Investment Committee, oversees the management of the Long-Term Investment Portfolio. The policy employed in managing the portfolio is designed to provide a stable, predictable and growing stream of investment income for current use while preserving the earnings power (after inflation) of endowment assets for the future.

Portfolio diversification is critical. The Investment Committee, acting with the assistance of an outside investment consultant, has established an asset allocation for use in managing the UM Foundation’s Long-Term Investment Portfolio. The portfolio’s actual allocation on June 30, 2009 was quite similar to the established target allocation.
